PHENOL
I want to dedicate this short but not very short post to a special group of friends,
PHENOL, although they don't read my blog.
I have no idea how but I've grown so close to them, and never regret it. It all started off as a challenge by Zul-Azri, who told me that the 6 of them are very difficult to befriend because together, they emit a scary "aura".
I genuinely thought there were 5 of them initially but I was mistaken. There were 6. I had a head start since I somehow already knew 2; Denise, being the smartest in the course and June, a close friend of a classmate. If you had asked me which of the 6 would be the most difficult to connect to then, I'd have said Amanda. And so, with the quietest one as my first target, I began my "quest".
It was made easier when I bumped into Amanda and Denise outside the library with tons of books to carry. And so, I decided to help them. I took that chance to talk to Amanda while we were waiting for her sister to pick her up and found out, surprisingly, that she was much friendlier than I thought!
1 down, 5 more to go. I then found out the "key" to "unlocking" Phenol. Denise was always their main focus because of her easy going and childlike character. Getting to know Denise would mean I could tease her, something in common with the rest. And suddenly, I got more involved with Phenol!
Xin Yi was a frequent group mate of mine, being at the back of the class register. Having the same background, it was easy relating to her.
June, she disliked me at the start because I seemed to have annoyed her in one way or another. I chose to ignore that fact and amazingly, the table turned. Now, she's the closest to me among the 6, though it doesn't seem that way because we always have our friendly squabbles.
Previously, I stated that I had thought Amanda was the most difficult to connect to. But I would give that honour to Marianne. It was pure coincidence with her because when I needed help with Organic Chemistry one day, she was studying that very subject right in front of me. So I decided to seek help from her and together with Denise, we formed a study trio before the final exams that semester. She was also my Basic Nutrition classmate, which gave me the chance of talking to her more frequently.
Well, for some reason, I didn't try to know Phang Ling better and it stayed that way til we graduated.
It's quite funny that the name "Phenol" came from a lame joke of mine and it permanently stick to them. HAHAH.
I don't know what I did to deserve such awesome friends who had never once forgotten me. They stood by me in my difficult times. They see me as a friend, even though I irritated the hell out of them (always have and always will ^^). I haven't had a clique ever but well, they are the closest to a clique to me. =D
