Sunday 10 June 2012
Just a blink of an eye and it's the 10th of June. The past 2 weeks started off with a sweet 4 days leave before a 10 consecutive hectic days which include a 2d1n Platoon Urban Operations, 2d1n Exercise Walnut, an 8km route march, machine gun live firing and an SAF Day rehearsal.
I undertook the role as Section 1 commander of Platoon 4 during the Platoon Urban Operations. Being in charge of new men was a challenge but bonding was never a problem for me. The bond I created was shown during the Platoon Battle Course where we cleared an entire 4-storey building within 80 minutes.
Exercise Walnut was an exercise to observe the men's abilities to maintain security within camps. As one of the instructors, I was tasked to become the "intruders". Though the injuries sustained were real, it was a fun and learning experience for all of us.
I fell out of the SAF Day rehearsal due to my injured hip sustained during Exercise Walnut. HAHA!
We got into trouble on the last few days in camp but personally, I think our superiors were overreacting.
You always cross my mind
